Right from the very beginning I want to make clear that I don't endorse any underground methods of improving rankings in the SERPs. Still, what if there are some "unofficial" schemes that actually deliver results with a minimum of risk assumed.

This is really an issue worth reflecting upon. Many SE marketers that don't get the minimum results also blatantly refuse using some needy greedy practices that could get them of the ground just because some guru told them these are bad and dangerous.

1.Reciprocal linking partnership(s) - doesn't get definitive results unless combined with a consistent portion of one way back links.

Reciprocal linking is easily detected by the search engines and when spotted there's a great chance that they are filtered out from the SE's index.

The probability of this happening is dictated by your linking partner's value and the frequency of your link reciprocation acts.

For a solid website, in a white hat environment, this practice is considered to be legitimate and is an expression of what the web community is all about - inter-connectivity.

On the other hand if the link exchanging parties rely only on low quality back links they will surely drop in rankings even if signs of improvement appear when the link exchange is still fresh.

If valuable candidates are not to be seen momentarily concentrate on creating quality informational materials that people generally recommend through a back link.

2. Page Onload Redirects - efficient, but if identified could have devastating effects.

The sentence is immediate exclusion from the search engines. Search engines are getting better at spidering JavaScript redirects.

If you plan on moving content whether it's an entire website or just a single page use the 301 redirect. This method permits you to keep the PageRank accumulated until that moment.

Before moving, verify that the domain is not expired and/or the page handles the exact same subject line.

3. Buying Links - effective with untapped link sources and good disguising.

One of the reasons why this tactic is highly disputed in the SEO community is due to the fact it actually produces results.

But there's a trick. In order to work effectively for you, search engines must not discover these transactions.

The way to make them radar invisible is to include them in fleshy bodies of content so that even a human editor can't prove they're paid for.

SEO efficient back links have two characteristics in common, and these are: 1) can't be uncovered by search engine spiders or exposed by human inspectors and 2) they're hard to replicate by competitive websites.

Keeping your link acquisitions discrete also keeps the price tag at a reasonable score as your valuable source isn't assaulted by ready to buy marketers with fat wallets.

4. Linking Networks - can trigger penalties if it's not done with relevancy.

These linking networks are, as reciprocal links, easily spotted by the search engines, even more so if you don't have a good amount of inbound links pointing into your network components to mix it up.

Many Search Engines are devaluating links coming from the same C block IP range. You can counteract this by utilizing different hosts for your various sites and again, having large amounts of inbound links referencing your network.

If you don't even have sufficient content to pour into each website you should abandon the idea of starting a linking network altogether.

5. Hidden Text - better to invest time in keyword optimization with legit methods.

The benefits just don't justify the risk. For search engines is not that easy to spot hidden text but in fairly competitive markets there are competitors that know were to "advertise" your hidden shortcuts.

6. Cloaking - effective until they catch it, though each page needs some amount of link equity to get indexed.

Also referred to as showing two different versions of the same page: one for the SE bot and one for the human visitor.

If done correctly this practice is hard to discover by search engines. And there are some programs to use one being Fantomaster. I don't recommend it though, because your website becomes outdated as the web continually evolves.

7. Automated Content Generation - it stopped being an efficient SEO practice but for a legit website it can't hurt either.

In my opinion this practice is totally outdated because search engines and primarily Google developed their duplicate content filters, so dupe content containers can't rank anymore.

If you were to ask me the best SEO dodgy practice that gets you results is buying links.

Further more, instead of making expensive purchases with Yahoo Directory and other paid directories you should place your money on under priced but quality links researched by you personally.
